You are Special to God

by Rev. Fr. V.V. Paulose, Toronto, Canada

Today's Bible Verse

"Suppose one of you have 100 sheep but loses one of them, then he will leave the other 99 sheep in the open field and go out and look for the lost sheep until he finds it." ( Luke 15 :3)

Discussion

Do you feel you are forgotten and unwanted by God and people?

Each one of us is precious and unique in front of God. God does not like anyone of us lost. "I show concern for the great city of Nineveh, which has more than 120,000 people who do not know right from wrong, and many animals too" (Jonah 4:11). He is ready to go the extra miles to save an individual and even to die for him/her. "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only son." (John 3:16). He calls all of us by our names. "He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out" ( John 10:3).

God's love for the individual is so great that he seeks out each one and rejoices when he/she is found and saved. You are not one among the 1000 people but unique. The most soothing word to hear from others is to call us in our own given names that means others recognize our own individuality.

The fast changing world of super computers seems to forget to look at human being with a soul, body and mind and dumps them in the forgotten world of darkness to fend their own future and die without any trace of their life on earth. How much a family or a nation should be concerned about an individual at the altar of collective groups?

In Jes'U's, the letter 'U' denotes each of us in our own names, he lives for 'U', dies for 'U' and comes for 'U'. He died on the cross for you and me to save us.

Golad Schalit is the soldier who has been held in captivity by Hamas in the Gaza strip for the last 5 years. Israel as a nation and each one in the whole country stands still and observes 5 minutes silence to remember him. The President of the nation Shimon Peres says, "For the past 5 years, the entire nation has been united in its hearts in the hope that Schalit will be here with us, healthy and whole," The Prime Minister Binyamin Netheanyahu said to mark the day that "we are constantly working for his release and only a small portion of what we do is known to the public. The entire country will not rest until he comes home," he added. The Chief Rabbi Shlomon Amar called on the public to read chapter 27 in the Book of Psalms. The father of Schalit says, "Leaders and decision makers will not be able to ignore the call from people from the bottom up." As a nation, Israel will not sleep or giving up until the soldier is saved from the hands of Hamas that has no law and no heart.

"During danger, he will keep me safe in his shelter. He will hide me in his Holy Tent, or he will keep me safe on a high mountain. If my father and mother leave me, the Lord will take me in. I truly believe I will live to see the Lord's goodness" ( Psalm 27:5,10,13).

Prayer

Jesus, remember those who have no faces and voices. Lord, save the innocent and helpless who are under captivity in homes, barracks, and jails. Let us understand your individual care and love and let us be hopeful always. Shield us from the snare of all wicked people. Let your protective umbrella save us from rain and sun. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
