Secret of Success

by Rev. Fr. V.V. Paulose, Toronto, Canada

Today's Bible Verse

"Be brave and strong! Don’t be afraid of the nations on the other side of the Jordan. The Lord your God will always be at your side, and he will never abandon you." (Deuteronomy 3:16)

Discussion

Are you afraid and doubt your ability and status to move forward?

Success in life mainly depends on sheer confidence and efforts of an individual. We should know that we live with the elixir of God’s spirit - all powerful, all knowledgeable and cleansed with the blood of the resurrected Christ. Apart from that, “We are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to life of faith” (Hebrews 12: 1). The world is in the scare of life’s challenges and many people’s faith and confidence are in the pits and they are depressed and sad. We forget the hands of God who is holding our hands and leading us always in the land of green meadows and the bank of peaceful streams. “I’m the lord your God. I’m holding your hand, so don’t be afraid. I’m here to help you (Isaiah 41:13). We must keep our eyes on Jesus for not to stumble by the surroundings. "Let us look only to Jesus who began our faith and who makes it perfect” (Hebrews 12:2).

The first Lady of US, Michelle Obama is the great- great grand daughter of the slaves from Africa, paternally and maternally. But she is the alumina of the prestigious Princeton and Harvard universities and be the wife of the 44th president of USA, Barrack Obama. While addressing the students of Oxford University school in UK, she has rolled out her secret of success in her life. She says, “I remember back when I was your age, trying to decide which schools that I would apply to. And remember many well-wishers, but misguided people sometimes questioned whether someone with my background could succeed at an elite university.” She added that “even after being accepted to an university, she had all kinds of worries and fears and doubts that she would be less prepared than students who had come from more privileged families. But after a few months I realized that I was just as capable. I realized that success is not about the background you are from, it’s about the confidence that you have and the effort you are willing to invest.”

Prayer

Jesus, let us feel your unforeseen hand holding our hands. Let us be electrified by your spirit of courage and confidence to run this race of life and win. We pray for those who are depressed and dejected without any support . Let all our children look up to you and be confident in you and their inner strength. Let all the students come out from their shyness, fear, shame, and doubt. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
