Healing Ministry

by Rev. Fr. V.V. Paulose, Toronto, Canada

Today's Bible Verse

"Paul went in and prayed for him, and laying his hands on him, he healed him." (Acts 28:8)

Discussion

Do you wish for prayers and support of the church for your sickness?

Jesus heals. We should pray and support the sick. Prayer and fasting is part of God's healing process. According to James, "Are any of you sick? You should call for the priests of the Church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well." (James 5:14-15) Anointments of the sick and the healing is one of the seven sacraments of our Church. If we apply this sacrament judiciously and faithfully, then we can see the visible and physical results, and I have personally experienced this in my priestly life. Whenever anyone is sick and suffering, he/she badly needs and longs for the support and prayer of the church members. Healing is a free gift of God that should be given freely to the sick...70% of Jesus' earthly ministry was used for healings.

Jiji, aged 40, was completely paralyzed on her left side after the removal of her uterus in 2004. Her son was also attacked by a rare sickness and was almost dead. Hospitalization didn't give any hope and there was no improvement at all. The family was in deep distress. A servant of God came and offered 26 days of prayer and fasting. It did wonders for them and both were healed completely. After this, the whole family changed their approach to life. Now I see joy, peace, love and holiness in them.

Reality can't be refuted. Don't ever doubt Him and never be afraid to apply the free gift and authority of God to heal you. We can boldly go to Jesus in prayer for all our healings.

"I will heal you" is the promise of Jesus. That is immutable.

Prayer

Jesus, you promise to heal. So we, your children, in faith come to you for the healings of our brothers and sisters who are sick. Let our people support and pray for the sick. All we ask in the name of Jesus.

Amen.
