"So Moses cried out to the Lord, 'O God, I beg you, please heal her.'" (Numbers 12:13)
Do you believe intercessional prayers help heal the sick?
Intercessory Prayers heal. "Are any of you sick? You should call for the priests of the church to come and pray over you , anointing with oil in the name of the Lord. Such prayers offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven" (James 5:14,15). Prayer is part of God's healing process. Thirty medical schools in America are now offering courses in faith and medicine. "Prayer works," says Dr Mathew, Assistant Professor of Medicine in Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. Miriam, the sister of Moses was affected by leprosy. When Aaron saw what had happened to her, he cried out to Moses to intercede for her to God. So Moses cried out to the Lord and Lord heard it and healed her from the skin disease. It's the God given gift to believers to pray for others who are sick. It should be liberally applicable to the individuals in the community.
Monica Besra was cured of an abdominal tumor by Mother Teresa on September 5th, 1998 - the first anniversary of the saint. In August, she had been admitted to the hospital and was diagnosed with an ovarian tumor. Due to her poor health, the doctor postponed the operation by 3 months. So she went home. Her sister Kanchana took her to a Missionaries Of Charity home in Potiram village, about 50 KM from her house. The sisters in the Home held a special Mass. That evening, Monica says, "I remember the time clearly as my bed was next to a wall with a picture of Mother Teresa and a clock. I felt my stomach and was stunned to realize that the lump was gone." It was reported to the church and the church conducted the inquiry of the miracle. In December 2002, Pope John Paul 11 officially attributed the miracle of Monica's healing to Mother Teresa.
"Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you" (Psalm 50:15). Through prayers, we can connect the sick to God. We should have a network using all the social medias for intercessory prayers. The results will be wonderful. Pray for the sick earnestly and that way, we show our love to our neighbours.
Jesus, let our homes and churches be echoed with the voices of prayer for the sick and the afflicted. We pray for the sick. We pray for all health workers - doctors, nurses, para-medicals and technicians. May all those who are in the Ministry of healing be strengthened. We ask this in the name of Jesus.
